Clayton Korte Completes Granero Cayucos Ridge, a 4,315 ft² Vineyard Barn in California’s Santa Lucía Range

Clayton Korte has completed a 4,315-square-foot agricultural barn, Granero Cayucos Ridge, on a 60-hectare property along the eastern boundary of the Santa Lucía mountain range in California. Twelve of those hectares are planted with Syrah vineyards. The structure, positioned between forest and vineyard, opens westward with broad bays to connect directly to the working landscape. A generous roof overhang shades a functional work portico and protects lift doors from intense afternoon sun, reinforcing the design’s passive environmental strategies. The project was led by principal architect Brian Korte, with design team member Josh Nieves. Woulbroun Construction served as general contractor. Engineering and consulting were provided by Buehler Engineering, Inc. (structural), Walsh Engineering (civil), and Kirk Consulting (other). Photographs were taken by Casey Dunn and Ray Castro.
