Claudio Barontini's Iconic Portraits and Lucca Landscapes at Palazzo delle Esposizioni

From August 29 to September 26, 2026, the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Lucca will host 'Claudio Barontini – Uno sguardo', a photography exhibition curated by Alice Barontini and organized by the Fondazione Banca del Monte Lucca and Fondazione Lucca Sviluppo. The show presents a selection of black-and-white portraits by Claudio Barontini, featuring international figures from culture, cinema, fashion, and entertainment, including Patti Smith, Vivien Westwood, Franco Zeffirelli, King Charles III, Susan Sarandon, Vittorio Gassman, Sylvester Stallone, Lina Wertmuller, and Lindsay Kemp. Alongside these iconic images, the exhibition includes a series of 'impressions' captured by the photographer as a flâneur traveling between Liverpool, New York, the French Riviera, and Italy. A special homage to the Lucca area features portraits of artists and personalities shot in the province, such as Mario Monicelli, Nicole Kidman, Fernando Botero, Pietro Cascella, and Gabriella Ferri, as well as first-time displays of flâneur photographs taken in Viareggio, Pietrasanta, Torre del Lago, and Lucca's historic center. The exhibition also includes the screening of the documentary 'Kemp-Barontini: Drawings and Pictures' (2020), directed by Cristiana Cerrini and produced by Lucia Manganaro Morelli. The show is open Tuesday to Sunday from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM, closed Mondays, with free admission. The opening is scheduled for Saturday, August 29 at 6:30 PM at Piazza San Martino 7, Lucca.
