Claudia Alonso-Allende: painting as an incomplete puzzle awaiting the viewer

Spanish painter Claudia Alonso-Allende describes her work as an incomplete puzzle that only gains meaning when viewed. Trained in fine arts and inspired by classical painting—Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism—she deconstructs figurative images into abstract compositions while preserving key elements like color palette and structure. She aims for the viewer to complete the puzzle through perception. Alonso-Allende recently collaborated with Madrid's municipal transport company (EMT) to display her work on buses, an experience she found thrilling for taking art outside the white cube. She is open to more urban interventions and brand collaborations, citing Loewe as a positive example where craftsmanship and art align. Her upcoming project is a master's in painting at the Royal College of Art in London, where she plans to continue producing series-based work.
