Classic cinema inspires interior design of Canada's Barcelona office

In Poblenou, Barcelona, mcd/studio has designed new offices for audiovisual production company Canada inside a 1970s industrial building. The project preserves the original architecture while creating an atmosphere linked to classic cinema. The two-story layout is organized around a linear axis defined by structural pillars, forming an interior 'street' that connects both facades. Visible HVAC ducts reinforce this axis and accentuate the industrial character. Materials include iroko wood, carpet, velvet, galvanized sheet metal, stainless steel, and natural aluminum. Exposed concrete pillars and beams add rhythm and spatial continuity. Art director Loli Llorens collaborated on the color and material palette. Custom furniture—desks, cabinets, sofas—was designed specifically for the space. The project aims to reflect Canada's brand identity and corporate culture.
