Clase Azul's La Hacienda opens in Jalisco after decade-long collaboration by five architecture firms

La Hacienda, an expansive tequila facility created by Clase Azul México, has opened its doors to visitors by reservation in Los Altos de Jalisco, Mexico. Initiated in 2016, the project involved selecting architecture firms from Guadalajara, but founder Arturo Lomelí opted to collaborate with five firms: Atelier ARS, Elías Rizo Arquitectos, Estudio Macías Peredo, Tacher Arquitectos, and Huber Design Studio. Each firm contributed to various sections of the nearly 22-hectare site, which features a welcome pavilion, a visitors' center, a distillery, ceramic production areas, dining spaces (including OYA restaurant), and technical facilities. Construction commenced in 2017, emphasizing local materials and artisanal craftsmanship. Estudio Macías Peredo's distillery showcases a hexagonal honeycomb design, with materials acquired by the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The landscape, designed by Atelier ARS alongside horticulturist Juan Montaño, focuses on habitat restoration. La Hacienda provides immersive tequila experiences lasting between four-and-a-half to seven hours, available for online booking. In February, Clase Azul also launched Casa de Los Leones in the Polanco neighborhood of Mexico City.
