CIMAM Opens 2026 Travel Grant Applications for Museum Professionals from Developing Regions

award · 2026-04-04

The International Committee for Museums and Collections of Modern Art (CIMAM) has announced its 2026 Travel Grant Programme, which will fund participation in the organization's 58th Annual Conference. The conference, themed 'Museums Beyond Limits: Imagining Repair Across Cultures, Ecologies and Knowledges,' will be held in Harare from November 20 to 22, 2026. This marks CIMAM's first annual gathering on the African continent. The grant programme, established in 2005, aims to support museum directors, curators, and researchers from emerging and developing economies by providing access to international professional networks and discussions on modern and contemporary art. Eligibility is restricted to professionals based in countries classified as emerging or developing economies (ICOM Groups C, D, and E), who must demonstrate financial need and professional relevance to the field. Priority consideration is given to early-career individuals with under ten years of experience. Applications will be evaluated by the CIMAM Travel Grants Committee based on financial circumstances, the applicant's practice relevance, and potential professional development impact. Selected grantees will receive support covering conference registration, travel, and accommodation expenses. Applications must be submitted in English through an online platform by May 4, 2026, at 08:00 CEST, and must include a curriculum vitae, motivation statement, list of recent exhibitions or publications, and two recommendation letters. Inquiries can be directed to travelgrants@cimam.org.
