CIAO wraps 25sqm London micro flat around multifunctional plywood wall

Local architecture studio CIAO has completed a 25-square-metre micro flat in Islington, London, organized around a multifunctional birch plywood dividing wall that incorporates a table, TV console, and wardrobe. The wall features translucent reeded glass panels to filter light. The living room sits on one side with storage, a mounted TV, and a round table; the bedroom on the other has built-in hanging and drawer storage. A plywood unit under windows provides shelving and bench seating. The kitchen runs along one wall, and a mezzanine overhead offers storage accessed by a ladder. The only enclosed space is the bathroom and utility room, concealed behind a birch plywood door. CIAO used a neutral palette of white walls, birch panelling, and timber floors with green accents. Co-founder Diego Dalpra said the design avoids fragmentation by treating the apartment as a continuous spatial layout with bespoke joinery defining zones.
