Church's S/S 2027 'The Residence' at Fondazione Adolfo Pini in Milan
Church's presented its S/S 2027 collection, 'The Residence', at the Fondazione Adolfo Pini in Milan, the former home and studio of painter Renzo Bongiovanni Radice. The venue, a preserved apartment in the Garibaldi district near Brera, was last refurbished at the end of 2025 and retains original parquet floors, coffered ceilings, family furniture, and over 40 of Bongiovanni Radice's paintings. The collection is organized into three families: 'Villa' (vacation and softness, including slippers and a moccasin with rope-like hand stitching), 'Cottage' (between town and countryside, with lighter construction featuring free upper leather and concealed elastic Oxford), and 'Townhouse' (formal Goodyear-welted shoes with closed-channel sole stitch, including the 'Tayport' derby in polished fumé leather, 'Taunton' loafer in Ocean Calf, and 'Thirsk' brogue with wingtip drawn only in perforation). A representative noted that the domestic setting was chosen because the collection references domestic living. The 'Shannon' icon is reinterpreted in a deep green hand-painted leather applied in three or four coats. A material library and makers at work were displayed, alongside archive pieces from Church's Chapters project, including women's shoes from 1900, 1970s white boots and loafers, advertising material, and an 1887 red blotting-paper book. Church's has been making shoes in Northampton, UK, since 1873.
