Chuck Ramirez Retrospective 'Ordinary Wonders' Opens at The Momentary in Bentonville

So, there's this cool exhibition happening at The Momentary in Bentonville, Arkansas, called 'Chuck Ramirez: Ordinary Wonders.' It's actually the first time they're showing a retrospective of Chuck Ramirez, who was from San Antonio, outside of Texas. The exhibit is free and will be open until January 10, 2027. Alejo Benedetti curated it, and it really showcases how Ramirez turned everyday objects like trash bags and candy trays into deep reflections on identity and life. He died in 2010 at just 48, and before diving into art, he worked in advertising for H-E-B. One of his notable pieces is 'Long Term Survivor: Cocktail' from 1999, which touches on his experience with HIV. The show includes areas like 'Shelf Life,' which deals with mortality, and his Trash Bags series in 'What Remains.' Plus, the Amon Carter Museum recently picked up his 'Seven Days' series. The Momentary itself is a transformed Kraft Cheese factory and is part of the Crystal Bridges complex founded by Alice Walton. Interestingly, a review pointed out how art and commerce really contrast in Bentonville, especially since it’s the home of Walmart.
