Chromaterico Textile Objects: Furniture from Recycled Textile Waste

Archeomaterico (Davide Balda) and Chroma Composites have developed Chromaterico Textile Objects, a furniture collection based on Textilite, an artificial stone made from recycled textile waste. Discarded, defective, and unsold garments and fabric offcuts are mechanically ground into recycled synthetic and organic fibers, then combined with Chroma Composites' Mersus process—a proprietary engineered composite system that enhances structural and mechanical performance. The resulting material functions as a textile-based stone suitable for design, architecture, and sustainable furniture production. The project proposes a circular material workflow where textile surplus is treated as a resource at or near the point of generation, connecting recycling processes with material development and object production.
