Christto & Andrew: Artistic Duo Blending Photography and Digital Culture

Christto Sanz and Andrew Jay Weir, an artistic duo active since 2012, work between Doha, Qatar, and Copenhagen, Denmark. They create symbolic portraits and still lifes using photography, video, and installation. Their surreal compositions feature vibrant colors and sharp irony, referencing science fiction, transhumanism, and digital culture while examining how history, politics, economics, and pop culture shape contemporary society. Christto Sanz was born in 1985 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and studied visual communication and photography at Elisava School of Design and Engineering in Barcelona. Andrew Jay Weir was born in 1987 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and holds a business economics degree from Ramon Llull University in Barcelona and a master's from University College London-Qatar. Their work has been shown at venues including the Multimedia Art Museum in Moscow, Unseen Photo Fair in Amsterdam, NRW-Forum Düsseldorf, and Rencontres d’Arles.
