Christophe Decarnin Returns with Limited-Edition Denim Capsule for Bond

Christophe Decarnin, the cult designer known for his transformative tenure at Balmain from 2005 to 2011, has resurfaced with a limited-edition jeans capsule for the members-only luxury platform Bond. The collection comprises 888 individually numbered pairs of Japanese denim jeans, available in black and white, featuring side zips extending below the knee, inner ankle zips, gussets for flaring, and bondage-style buckle straps (four for women, three for men). Decarnin, who has been largely out of the public eye since leaving Balmain due to health issues, worked anonymously at Faith Connexion from 2014 to 2017 and collaborated with Kappa in 2018. The Bond collaboration, facilitated by former colleague Jungmi Park and Bond's Peter Griffith, marks Decarnin's first project under his own name, which he likens to signing a work. In an interview with Vogue, Decarnin discussed his philosophy of luxury as rarity and quality, his passion for denim, and his influences from punk to old Hollywood. The jeans are available in three lengths per size for a custom fit. Decarnin's career highlights include revitalizing Balmain with a blend of grunge and sharp tailoring, becoming the uniform for French Voguettes like Emmanuelle Alt and Carine Roitfeld. His work continues to challenge luxury norms with a distinctive French-punk aesthetic.
