Chiasso Perduto Hosts First Group Residency Open Studio in Florence with Zunino, Chammaa and Nevermind
Chiasso Perduto in Florence presents the open studio closing its first group residency, with works by Sara Zunino, Elie Chammaa and Joy Nevermind opening Saturday 24 October at 15:00, an aperitivo from 17:00 to 20:30, and continuing Sunday 25 October from 15:00 to 19:00 at Via de' Coverelli 4R, 50125 Firenze. Curated by Sandra Miranda Pattin and Francesca Morozzi, the project brings together three artists who live and work in the city but arrived from elsewhere, asking what a territory gives, what was left behind or taken away, and what is returned to the host city. Zunino, from Liguria, presents 'Oblio', weaving collective migration with family memory through two marginal objects: the plastic bag given to migrants arriving on Italian coasts, and the mop, sign of invisible labour performed while others sleep. Chammaa, born in Beirut, shows 'Un pesce fuor d'acqua', a mural and sculptural intervention drawing on the Arno and its fish to probe belonging, vulnerability and the predator-prey ambivalence of community. Joy Nevermind, Peruvian and based in Florence, presents 'Loop', an installation of light cables and video built from ornamental motifs on the city's metal ground plaques, invoking Stendhal syndrome and digital immersion, with a lock of her never-cut hair linking her to the avatar Yukio.
