Chiara Gambirasio on Kenoscromìa, Suspension, and Creative Processes

Italian artist Chiara Gambirasio (born 1996 in Bergamo, lives in Mapello) discusses her practice, which she terms "Kenoscromìa" (chromatic vibration in/of the void), in an interview with Davide Dal Sasso on Artribune. Her public works include "Spaesaggio" (2025, Londa, FI), "Farsi Eruttare Altrove" (Latera, VT and Montevaccino, TN), "V'arco" (2024, Castione della Presolana, BG), "Terre D'Istanti" (2023, Mapello, BG), "Ammiraggio" (Monte Stivo, TN), and "Sedimento" (2021, Spilamberto, MO). Solo exhibitions have been held at Museo Novecento in Florence and GAMeC in Bergamo; group shows at MMSU Rijeka, Museo di Villa Croce in Genoa, Palazzo Ducale in Gubbio, Manifattura Tabacchi in Florence, and Casa Testori in Milan. Gambirasio explores color, light, and emptiness, emphasizing a state of suspension between possibilities. She describes her process as a "sentazione" (thinking and feeling in action), where artistic gestures are immediate and pure. The artist views crisis as a necessary reset, and rules as flexible, subject to revision. Her work aims to create spaces for imaginative engagement, using color to "embrace the void."
