Château de Sceaux to Present Major Exhibition on Marie-Caroline, Duchess of Berry

From September 13, 2026, to February 14, 2027, the Château de Sceaux in France will present an exhibition entitled 'Marie-Caroline, duchesse de Berry. Princesse rebelle.' Curated by Carole Blumenfeld and Céline Barbin, the showcase includes nearly one hundred pieces, with some on loan from the Château de Versailles. It narrates the story of Marie-Caroline, detailing her journey as a foreign princess after Napoleon I and the provincial revolts that rallied to her support. The exhibition emphasizes her image as a romantic figure and explores the roles of women in French history, the symbolism of power, and the culture of celebrity in the 19th century. Élina Grimaud is the producer of this initiative, which builds on the 2008 exhibition and furthers the museum's exploration of post-revolutionary France.
