Charmaine Poh Brings Deutsche Bank Artist of the Year Project to MUDEC in Milan
Charmaine Poh, a Singaporean artist born in 1990, is set to unveil her inaugural Italian solo exhibition at MUDEC – Museo delle Culture in Milan, running from 18 September to 1 November 2026. The exhibition, entitled "Make a travel deep of your inside, and don't forget me to take," is curated by Britta Färber and highlights the Deutsche Bank "Artist of the Year" 2025 initiative. It includes various forms of media such as video, installation, and performance, exploring themes of identity, power dynamics, feminism, and queerness. A key piece is "The Moon is Wet" (2025), a three-channel video focused on female labor migration. Additional works featured are "majie" masks, "Heavy is the root of light" (2025), "Good Morning Young Body" (2021–2023), and "Public Solitude" (2022), reflecting a decade of Poh's artistic journey, inspired by Édouard Glissant's concept of opacity.
