Charlotte Colbert's 'Possible Landscapes' Transforms Venice Canalside Venues
During the 2026 Venice Biennale, Anglo-French artist and filmmaker Charlotte Colbert presents 'Possible Landscapes', a site-specific project spanning two venues along the Grand Canal. The exhibition features monumental polished steel sculptures, including a 4.5-meter arch topped with an eye, located in the garden of Palazzo Corner della Ca' Granda, opposite the Peggy Guggenheim Collection. The second venue, Aman Venice's historic gardens at Palazzo Papadopoli, displays works such as 'Where Angels Live', a silver tree adorned with ex-votos and milagros inspired by Colbert's 500-kilometer walk along the Camino de Santiago, alongside 'Supernatural Tendencies' and 'There is Light Somewhere'. Curated by Yasmine Helou and organized by Chiara Bordin, the project runs until September 30 at Palazzo Corner and November 30 at Aman Venice. A special event on September 6, coinciding with the Regata Storica, celebrates the Skira-published catalog with a public conversation featuring Colbert, Helou, Hesperia Iliadou, and Carolina Pasti, plus a soundscape by BIRDY and a DJ set by Massimo Santi. Colbert, currently post-producing her second film 'Becoming Capa' starring Esther McGregor and others, recently unveiled public sculptures in New York's Flatiron and Meatpacking districts. The exhibition is described as a fairy-tale pilgrimage reactivating childhood memories and belief, challenging contemporary pragmatism through an alchemical approach.
