exhibition · 2026-09-15

'Laberinto sin paredes', an exhibition curated by David Barro, will highlight the works of Jannis Kounellis, who passed away in Rome almost ten years ago. This showcase will take place at the Centro Galego de Arte Contemporánea (CGAC) in Santiago de Compostela from 25 September 2026 to 24 January 2027. Previously displayed at Es Baluard Museu, the exhibition presents Kounellis as both an ancient and contemporary artist, utilizing common materials. A significant installation features nine 17th-century Venetian sails, representing the city's cultural legacy. Additionally, the Albatros series (2001) includes fragmented sections of a wooden ship, embodying the burdens of history. Kounellis, originally from Piraeus, was a key figure in Arte Povera, renowned for his creative material usage and involvement in prominent art exhibitions.
