Centre Tignous d'Art Contemporain Presents 'Les Murs vivants' in Montreuil

exhibition · 2026-09-08

From September 3 to 27, 2026, the Centre Tignous d'Art Contemporain in Montreuil will host 'Les Murs vivants' (The Living Walls), a group exhibition exploring the intersections of art, architecture, and public space. The show is organized in partnership with the Cité de l'architecture et du patrimoine, the Musée de l'Histoire vivante, and the Atelier Martel. Spanning from the 1960s to the present, the exhibition examines collaborations between architects and artists that have shaped Montreuil's landscape, particularly in the neighborhoods of La Noue and Croix-de-Chavaux. It pays tribute to Maxime Darnaud, a local visual artist, and juxtaposes this history with works by contemporary artists Joris Valenzuela and Javier Carro Temboury. In conjunction with the European Heritage Days, the center will open its doors exceptionally on Saturday, September 19, and Sunday, September 20, from 2 PM to 7 PM, offering free visits to both ongoing exhibitions. Two special events are scheduled: a conference titled 'Les Murs vivants' led by the Atelier Martel on Saturday from 5 PM to 6:30 PM, and a workshop for children and adults called 'Empreinte, murs vivants' on Sunday from 3 PM to 5 PM, facilitated by Joris Valenzuela, with 16 spots available upon reservation.
