Celeste Aria: Interdisciplinary Artist Navigates Music, Fashion, and Activism from Berlin

Celeste Aria, a Canadian interdisciplinary artist now based in Berlin, synthesizes visual art, music, fashion, and performance. Her practice, rooted in a lifelong affinity for music, spans electronic dance production, vintage fashion curation, and performative political art. Aria's 2013 installation 'Brain Damage,' created with critic Dorian Batycka, combined her MRI brain scans with musical compositions, exhibited at Toronto's Neubacher Shor Contemporary through NXNE Art. At age 17, following sudden hearing loss in her left ear, she performed her first live session for music software company Ableton, where she now works as a Product Marketer. In 2013, she staged 'Resonant Zenith,' a sonic performance installation addressing climate change as a collateral event at the 55th Venice Biennale's Maldives Pavilion. She co-conceived the 'Climate Crisis Car Wash' performance with artist Thierry Geoffroy for the 2014 Berlin Biennale and, with Batycka, organized the currency-focused public art project 'REICHbankNOTE' at the White House Biennale within the same Berlin event. Her fashion work includes modeling for Essence Model Management in Montreal, walking the Gucci runway during Berlin Fashion Week in February 2020, and launching the online vintage archive Outsider Interest. In Montreal, she partnered with the PLURI collective and activist Éliane Thivierge on initiatives like the Rave Ethics Zine to promote safety in underground dance spaces. Her music includes the 2023 single 'Pretty Sleeper' and an upcoming debut album, 'Chasing the Dragon,' created with musician AFRIQUA. Aria maintains active social media presences on Instagram and TikTok, where she shares content on creativity, fashion history, and music.
