Cat Frazier, Digital Artist Behind AnimatedText, Dies at 34
Cat Frazier, a celebrated digital artist known for her animated typography, sadly passed away in 2026 at just 34 years old. Born in 1991, she was all about curiosity and humor, pushing boundaries in her art. Her Tumblr project, AnimatedText, gained a wide following by mixing memes, graphic design, and internet culture, showcasing bright colors, glowing effects, and intricate fonts reminiscent of nostalgic software. Frazier believed that the transformation of an image was essential to its life, seeing remixes and reposts as a way to enrich a work’s journey rather than detract from its originality. One of her notable pieces, Self care is officially over… We're doing drugs again, was part of the 2022 exhibition Digital Witness, where she was recognized for adding warmth and playfulness to the digital art scene.
