Casa Tepoztlán by DOSA STUDIO: A Vernacular Ode to Tepoztlán's Identity

Completed in 2022, Casa Tepoztlán is a residential project by Mexico City-based DOSA STUDIO, led by architects Sergio Sousa and Raúl Medina. Located in the magical town of Tepoztlán, Mexico, the house spans 1,130 square meters and draws on the region's vernacular construction systems, using adobe and volcanic stone to blend with the surrounding landscape. The design team included Paola Monreal, Marcela Segovia, and Abraham Servin. The project was curated by Valentina Díaz and photographed by Fabian Martínez and Sergio Sousa. The architects aimed to reflect the site's identity, emphasizing the mystical character of Tepoztlán, which is known for its high hills and historical significance. The use of local materials and traditional building techniques underscores a commitment to cultural heritage and environmental integration.
