Casa SOW and GROW: Architect's Own Residence and Studio in Japan
Casa SOW and GROW, designed by nevertheless / Yusuke Sagawa Architects, is a 68 m² residence and studio for the architect himself, completed in 2025. The project, curated by Miwa Negoro, is located in Japan and photographed by Yosuke Harada. The design responds to the dual considerations of sunlight reaching the cultivation field and the house's presence in the landscape. It adopts a vernacular character with a large roof, from which an arched section is cut out. Rather than conceiving the interior as a single homogeneous space, the design creates a series of small places within the enveloping enclosure. The technical team includes Takuya Tsuji, with Yusuke Sagawa as principal architect and Uchida Sangyo as general contractor. The project was published on ArchDaily in Spanish, with an original English version available. The house exemplifies a thoughtful integration of architecture and agriculture, emphasizing a granular approach to interior space.
