Casa Palea: Pama's Minimal Renovation in Elche Opens a Segmented Home
In 2024, architect Sergio Ortuño Coves and his team at Pama finalized Casa Palea, a renovation covering 120 square meters in Elche, Alicante, Spain. This initiative revitalized a segmented residence in a bustling urban area, optimizing natural light and airflow by positioning windows towards a central area. Careful demolition maintained the building's character while eliminating superfluous walls. A single multifunctional division was introduced, linking the entrance hall and kitchen. The original flooring was preserved, and false ceilings were removed to enhance ceiling height. Electrical wiring was kept discreet. Custom-designed furniture features a stainless steel coat rack, an iron shelving unit, and a refurbished living room item, with photography by Alejandro Gómez Vives.
