Casa Nakano: Tokyo Apartment Recreates Traditional Japanese Home

Casa Nakano, a 251 m² apartment in Tokyo designed by KUMA & ELSA, opened in 2024. The project, curated by Miwa Negoro, recreates the client's childhood memories of a traditional Japanese house with an engawa and garden gallery. Located fifteen meters above ground, the design opens the home to the sky. The team includes architects Shohei Kuma and Elsa Escobedo, with structural engineering by Kenichi Inoue Structural Engineers and M&E design by YUKEN M&E DESIGN OFFICE Inc.
