Casa La Vista: Desert Residence Designed to Breathe with the Landscape

Casa La Vista, a residence perched on a cliff in Baja California Sur, Mexico, is featured in the 89th edition of Glocal Design Magazine, titled 'Visionarias del espacio'. The issue brings together 15 female architects and interior designers expanding the conversation on architecture, design, and interiorism in Mexico. It includes two collectible covers by Prince Láuder and Jimena Estíbaliz. The house, oriented southeast, frames views of San José del Cabo and Punta Gorda. A large roof unifies the areas and provides shade, while floor-to-ceiling windows allow cross-ventilation. The residence is organized into three wings connected by a longitudinal axis, with five bedrooms around a desert garden and a social area at the end. Materials include stone from the Santa Catarina quarry and pink-purple wood carpentry with natural finish. Endemic vegetation accompanies the path. The project proposes a way of living where architecture adapts to the environment rather than imposing itself.
