Casa de los Patios: A Colombian House Exploring Domesticity Through Courtyards

Casa de los Patios, a 250 m² residence in Envigado, Colombia, is slated for completion in 2025. This innovative home redefines living spaces by incorporating a series of courtyards and thresholds. Designed by Alejandro Restrepo-Montoya Arquitectura and Estudio Central, it cleverly connects indoor and outdoor areas using voids as central elements. The courtyards feature plants that serve as solar filters, while the interior thresholds help balance spatial dimensions, fostering a connection between family life and nature. Key contributors include coordinators Daniel Molina and Hernán Ruiz, with support from a talented team. General construction was by Plan O, while Nicolás Hermelín handled landscape architecture, and Lighten took care of the lighting design.
