Casa Castela by BIRI Navigates 13-Meter Slope with Red Metal Walkway
In Nova Lima, Brazil, BIRI has finalized the construction of Casa Castela, which takes advantage of a 13-meter elevation change as a key design element. An elevator and a raised red metal walkway facilitate access from the street to the entrance of the home. This project transformed an incomplete structure and received approval from local authorities. The upper level houses a master suite along with two children's bedrooms, while the ground floor is dedicated to communal areas and service spaces on the western side. Parking and a courtyard are enclosed by reinforced concrete walls. The materials used include reinforced concrete, ceramic masonry, aluminum windows, and ceramic roof tiles. The design team features lead architects Marcos Franchini and Nattalia Bom Conselho, and the house covers 332.25 square meters in Condomínio Vila Castela.
