Carvalho Terra Arquitetos has completed a retrofit project for the Colegio Santa Maria's early childhood education facilities in São Paulo, Brazil. The buildings, originally constructed in the late 1960s and expanded in the 2000s, have been modernized to meet new technological demands, uses, and pedagogical practices while preserving their architectural identity. The project covers 550 square meters and was completed in 2025. The team was led by architects Bruno Carvalho and Carina Terra, with project team members Matheus Santos and Fábio Verbel, and technical coordination by Eduardo Carvalho. General construction was handled by Trinova Construtora e Incorporadora. Photographs of the project were taken by Guilherme Pucci. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira and published on ArchDaily. The renovation aims to update the spaces while maintaining the school's character, ensuring the facilities remain suitable for contemporary educational needs.
