Carvalho's Summer Performance Series Blends Dance and Installation

Carvalho gallery in East Williamsburg presents its Summer Performance Series, featuring choreographer Andrew Skeels' New York debut, "Meanwhile" (2026), performed by Lloyd Knight (Martha Graham Dance Company) and Jacquelin Harris (Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater). The performance unfolds within "Desire Path" (2026), a meadow-like installation by Hudson Valley-based designer Nicole Rossi. The series, curated by founder Jennifer Carvalho, began in 2024 and unites ambitious installation art with dance. Previous iterations included choreography by Jodi Melnick with Sara Mearns (New York City Ballet) set against Diana Orving's "Spirit Playground" (2024), and Taylor Stanley and Alec Knight (New York City Ballet) performing within Nicola Turner's "Fabric of Undoing" (2025). The current series was inspired by a winter performance featuring Etay Axelroad within Guillaume Linard Osorio's sculpture. Upcoming performances are July 25 at 3 p.m. and August 8 at 7 p.m., free but RSVP required.
