Carol Bouyoucos Unveils Nine Waterfront Murals in Peekskill
Carol Bouyoucos, a photographic artist hailing from North Salem, NY, has successfully completed a project for the Peekskill Arts Alliance, which involved the creation of nine permanent murals along the waterfront of Peekskill. Each mural, measuring 23 feet in height and 16 feet in width, is named Above the Fruited Plain and showcases large botanical imagery set against a backdrop of faded blue-gray tones featuring historic photographs of Peekskill. A BFA graduate of the University of Michigan, Bouyoucos employs digital photographic techniques inspired by her local nature preserve and various art historical movements. Her work reflects a post-photographic material approach. Recent exhibitions include BAU Gallery, Chroma Fine Art Gallery, The Flinn Gallery, Yellow Studio Gallery, Atlantic Gallery, and Above The Fruited Plains. The commission has been highlighted in Lenscratch by Emily Laux.
