Carmo Johnson Projects Celebrates Five Years with Textile Exhibition 'Trejeitos do Tempo'

exhibition · 2026-07-22

The fifth anniversary of Carmo Johnson Projects in São Paulo was marked by the exhibition 'Trejeitos do Tempo', which will be open until August 1. This showcase included textile creations by Leila de Sarquis and collaborative works featuring Michel CENA7 alongside his mother Raquel Ramalho, and Renato de Cara with his mother Bertha Eunice. Curated by De Cara, the exhibition highlighted vibrant embroideries paired with fluorescent panels. CENA7's geometric artworks were enhanced by Ramalho's crochet, while Sarquis displayed stitched illustrations on sheer cotton. The exhibition text was authored by Lenora de Barros. Established by Carmo Marchetti Berna Johnson in April 2021, the gallery now features nine artists, including Mahku, which will have a solo exhibition in mid-October following its participation in the 60th Venice Biennale (2024).
