Carminati's 37-Millimetre Timber Frames Glaze ACPV Architects' Bvlgari Hotel on Dubai's Jumeirah Bay Island
In 2017, the Bvlgari Hotel and Resort on Jumeirah Bay Island, Dubai, incorporated 37-millimetre front-facing lift-and-slide timber doors designed by ACPV Architects. These doors, part of Carminati's Skyline Minimal Frames collection, are touted as the slimmest wooden profiles globally. The timber sash is structurally bonded to the glass, allowing for minimized dimensions. Inside, pale oak is used, complemented by bronze-coloured aluminium cladding for durability against coastal conditions. The four-metre glazed panels are engineered to withstand significant wind loads, necessitating a custom concealed composite beam made of three welded steel tubes. Established in 1894, Carminati provides a variety of styles, including Skyline Bifold and Pivot, and offers tailored solutions through its technical office.
