Carl Sprinchorn Surveyed in Twin Maine Exhibitions and Rediscovery Catalogue
Two exhibitions in Maine celebrate the work of American modernist Carl Sprinchorn (1887–1971). The Ogunquit Museum of American Art (OMAA) is hosting "Carl Sprinchorn: All the World is a Painting," which runs until November 1, while Bates College Museum of Art features "Carl Sprinchorn: Points of View," available until December 19. A Swedish immigrant, Sprinchorn was a student of Robert Henri and formed connections with prominent artists. The OMAA exhibit delves into his identity exploration through diverse subjects, whereas Bates displays over seventy pieces from the 1900s to the 1960s, highlighting his portrayal of action and emotion. Both exhibitions are accompanied by a joint catalogue titled "Carl Sprinchorn: A Rediscovery," published by the University of Maine Press. OMAA operates daily from 10am to 5pm, while Bates is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm.
