Cao Fei to Stage Largest UK Show at Hayward Gallery in Spring 2027
In the spring of 2027, London’s Hayward Gallery will host a groundbreaking exhibition featuring the renowned Chinese multimedia artist, Cao Fei. This show, the largest of its kind in the UK, will include five sections, highlighted by the UK premiere of her video installation, The Birth (2026), which examines the impact of drones in farming across China and Southeast Asia. Other notable works like Whose Utopia (2006), RMB City (2007–2011), and Asia One (2018) will also be showcased. Whose Utopia reimagines part of the gallery as a factory dorm, while RMB City presents a virtual city Cao built in Second Life. Senior curator Yung Ma praised the gallery's focus on innovative artists and their collaborative spirit.
