Cantor and Securitize Partner to Bring IPOs On-chain

On July 15, Cantor Fitzgerald and Securitize revealed their collaboration aimed at integrating IPOs and follow-on offerings from public firms into blockchain technology. This innovative model employs tokenization to issue, distribute, and oversee securities within the current capital markets landscape. While Cantor focuses on market structure and distribution, Securitize supplies the necessary infrastructure. As an SEC-registered broker-dealer, Securitize Markets guarantees adherence to regulatory standards. Established in 2017, Securitize oversees more than $5 billion in assets by July 2026 and has tokenized upwards of $4 billion, including BlackRock's BUIDL tokenized treasury fund. Following a SPAC merger with Cantor, Securitize went public under the ticker SECZ, with a valuation around $1.25 billion. This partnership emerges as Wall Street intensifies its tokenization trials, with the DTCC conducting a test involving nearly 40 institutions, such as JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Vanguard, and the NYSE. The model's effectiveness hinges on the initial issuer and operational specifics like voting rights, dividends, and settlement processes.
