Canopée Typeface Expanded by Violaine & Jeremy After Ten Years
A decade after its initial launch, the Paris-based design studio Violaine & Jeremy has unveiled an enhanced version of their Canopée typeface through VJ-Type. This updated edition introduces additional weights and polished styles, merging sharp serifs with gentle curves, making it ideal for editorial applications. The design journey emphasized the width and rhythm of the letters, featuring slender glyphs contrasted with wider forms. Over two years were dedicated to developing the entire lowercase set, with input from Hélène Zhang and Lucille Alepis. Careful consideration was given to the round glyphs for visual harmony. The studio also produced print samples that combine font charts with historical plant photography by Karl Blossfeldt and still-life works by Vincent Gapaillard.
