Caloz Bramois House by R2A Architectes Challenges Dual-Unit Typology

R2A Architectes has finalized a two-family residence in Bramois, near Sion, Switzerland, which challenges the typical dual-unit housing design common in low-density areas. Known as Caloz Bramois House, this project juxtaposes the usual cubic form with an 'open' structural framework. The design utilizes a dense core to create a liberated perimeter, exploring two contrasting yet harmonious connections to the ground: immersion and overhang. Photographs by Dylan Perrenoud showcase the house, while Nina Vuga curated the project. The architects highlighted the endeavor to rethink the prevalent housing model. This initiative falls under the category of houses and house interiors, presenting a more dynamic relationship with its surroundings.
