California Murals Honor Olympic Figure Skater Alysa Liu

Following the 2026 Winter Olympics, artists in California are creating murals celebrating figure skater Alysa Liu. The American athlete won two gold medals at the Milan Cortina Games, inspiring muralists to depict her in public artworks. Gustavo Zermeño Jr., based in Venice, California, painted a tribute in Gardena, capturing Liu's likeness with spray paint. The Oakland-based street art collective Illuminaries created another mural in the Temescal neighborhood, Liu's hometown. These works reflect the intersection of sports and contemporary art, with public murals serving as visual commemorations of athletic achievements.
