Cabu's satirical art history show opens at Duduchothèque in 2026

The Duduchothèque in Châlons-en-Champagne will present "Cabu raconte son histoire de l'Art" from July 25, 2026. The exhibition features 69 drawings by the late French cartoonist Cabu, parodying masterpieces from Botticelli to Picasso, Léonard de Vinci to Dubuffet, Duchamp, and Daniel Buren. Cabu, a journalist and satirical artist, used pastiche not as mere imitation but as a critical lens on contemporary society and politics. The show is organized across two floors: the first offers a structured, pedagogical journey from prehistory to the Renaissance, while the second disrupts perception with modern and contemporary art, including works by Van Gogh, Picasso, and Duchamp. A pedagogical dossier for schools will be available from September 2026. The exhibition aims to teach visual literacy and make art accessible without simplification.
