C/O Berlin Explores the Lure of Digital Images

The group exhibition 'The Lure of the Image' has moved from the Fotomuseum Winterthur to C/O Berlin, running from April to October 2025. Curated by Marco De Mutiis, Doris Gassert, and Alessandra Nappo, and adapted for Berlin by Boaz Levin, the show examines how digital images from social media feeds, memes, and emojis shape perception. It features works by Dina Kelberman, Sara Cwynar, Jon Rafman, Viktoria Binschtok, Hito Steyerl, Éamonn Freel and Lynski, Jenny Rova, Zoé Aubry, and Noura Tafeche. Kelberman's 'The Wave' uses ASMR-inspired videos of hands washing sponges. Cwynar's 'Scroll 1' mimics infinite scrolling. Rafman presents 'Cursed Images' on a triptych. Binschtok's 'Digital Semiotics' series explores emojis. Steyerl's 'Strike' shows her attacking a screen with a hammer. Freel and Lynski's video morphs faces in the style of Michael Jackson's 'Black or White'. Rova's 'A MILF DREAM – My Matches on Tinder' collages her dating app experiences. Aubry's '#Ingrid' archives replacement images used to counter the spread of femicide photos. Tafeche's 'Annihilation Core Inherited Love' examines how kawaii aesthetics are used to spread extremist ideologies. The exhibition runs parallel to a Walter Schels retrospective at the Amerikahaus.
