BUREAU Renovates Two Sibling Apartments in 44 m² Lilac Project
BUREAU has completed Apartamento Lilac, a 44 m² renovation in which two separate "family" apartments—the first homes of two siblings, Lilac and Blue—serve as the starting point. The project is led by responsible architects Daniel Zamarbide, Carine Pimenta, and Galliane Zamarbide. Carine Pimenta coordinated the project and oversaw construction, while Jeremy Morris, Leo Yuan, and Finia Sonderegger executed it. Beatriz Duarte produced the publication drawings, and Abagot carried out the construction. Francisco Nogueira photographed the completed apartment. The project is scheduled for completion in 2026 and falls under the categories of Apartments and Renovation. The design team submitted the description, which frames the scheme around the two siblings' first independent homes. The project was curated by Susanna Moreira for ArchDaily, which published the original version in Portuguese. The scheme transforms two conventional family units into a single architectural intervention, preserving the personal history embedded in each sibling's first residence while reworking the 44 m² space.
