Bump Studio's Tetris Renovation Transforms Genova Apartment with Folded Yellow Volume

architecture-design · 2026-07-15

Bump Studio has finalized 'Tetris,' a residential renovation in Genova, Italy, transforming a disjointed apartment into a versatile living space through the use of color, geometry, and bespoke designs. Central to the project is a sculptural yellow structure that organizes circulation, storage, and the relationship between spaces. Previously, the apartment featured irregularly shaped rooms surrounding a central corridor, which has now been replaced by an open-plan living area. This yellow feature delineates the living space from the kitchen, incorporates storage solutions, and hides access to private areas. A yellow resin strip on the floor echoes the geometry of the volume. The kitchen showcases a sodalite blue island with a cantilevered snack counter, while the master bedroom boasts an ottanio green walk-in wardrobe and a circular opening for natural light. The bathroom includes recessed niches for the washbasin and shower. The lead architects are Arch. Giulio Massetani and Arch. Fabio Filippo, with photography by Enrico Massetani.
