Buildner Announces Re-Form Winners and Launches Edition 3

Buildner has revealed the winners of the second edition of Re-Form: New Life for Old Spaces, an international competition aimed at the adaptive reuse of small buildings (approximately 250 sqm). This open-format contest prioritized sustainability, practicality, and community benefit. The top award was given to 'Seeds in Forgotten Soil' by Made Artha Krisiantara, Angga Batistuta Meldina, and Yoshino Takasan from Indonesia, which proposes a post-disaster housing solution utilizing abandoned concrete with modular timber additions. The second prize went to 'Plug-In Protocol' by Wenzhuo Cai, Ruoxi Li, and Yi Wei Chen from the US, focusing on unfinished structures with lightweight modular components. Julia Mytnik from Poland received the third prize and Buildner Sustainability Award for 'The Future Factory,' which repurposes an old industrial site into a mixed-use civic area. The Buildner Student Award was awarded to Hojun Jung from South Korea for 'Postel 1953,' which converts coastal guard posts into shelters for trekkers. Notable entries came from cities like Barcelona, Melbourne, Tehran, Port Elizabeth, Seoul, Brooklyn, Paris, and Beirut. Additionally, Buildner has initiated Re-Form Edition 3, continuing its emphasis on adaptive reuse. Other active competitions include The Unbuilt Award 2026 (with a prize of 100,000 EUR), MICROHOME 2026 (also 100,000 EUR), and the Mujassam Watan Urban Sculpture Challenge.
