Bugatti and KPM Unveil One-of-a-Kind Mistral Hypercar with Porcelain Accents

Bugatti's Sur Mesure division has unveiled the W16 Mistral “Blanc Éternel,” a one-of-a-kind hypercar with 1,578 hp, achieving 0-62 mph in 2.4 seconds and a top speed of 273 mph. This marks Bugatti's second collaboration with Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin (KPM), following the 2011 “L’Or Blanc” Veyron Grand Sport. The design, led by Bugatti's design director Frank Heyl, uses digital modeling instead of clay, with black lines taped by hand to create an abstract zebra-like pattern. KPM contributed porcelain elements including its logo, the EB logo, gas and oil caps, engine cover accents, and interior components such as the center armrest, speaker covers, window buttons, and gear shift. Porcelain shrinks 17% during firing, requiring precise engineering. KPM creative director Thomas Wenzel called the integration a remarkable achievement. A 1,000-piece line of commemorative cups accompanies the car. The Mistral is claimed to be the final street-legal model powered by Bugatti's W16 engine, limited to 99 examples. The collaboration continues Ettore Bugatti's legacy of experimenting with materials, as noted by sales and marketing director Stefan Brungs in 2011.
