Brutalist nightclub Duro opens in Milan's Certosa district

In April 2024, Duro Club made its debut in Milan's revitalizing Certosa district. This nightlife hotspot occupies a repurposed cement factory and was crafted by Gianluca Bocchetta and Rosella Castagnotto from Turin's Velvet Studio. The design maintains the building's original Brutalist essence while innovating its layout and flow. The materials used include exposed concrete, stainless steel, vibrant tiles, and mirrors. A main corridor features porthole-like windows that provide views of the dance floor and an aubergine lounge. The dance area boasts warm parquet flooring adorned with white squares, reflecting the color-block lighting by ILTI Luce. The bar, a striking concrete-and-stainless-steel island, stands as a bold focal point, while the DJ booth is embedded into the wall like a bunker. Duro is the newest project by brothers Marco and Riccardo Augeri, who also own Da Orient, a vintage store-turned-cocktail bar in Milan's Chinatown. Castagnotto likens the club's vibe to that of 'Studio 54,' with patrons embracing flamboyant fashion, setting it apart from the usual Berlin club scene.
