Bruce Weber: Try a Little Tenderness at Fahey Klein Gallery

The Fahey Klein Gallery in Los Angeles is hosting 'Bruce Weber: Try a Little Tenderness,' an exhibition timed with the Taschen publication 'My Education,' the first book-form retrospective of photographer Bruce Weber's multi-decade career. The show, on view from April 9 to June 6, 2026, features over 60 framed images, including black-and-white works and a small grouping of seven color photographs. Highlights include a portrait of Sir Ian McKellen with Peter Johnson at Old Brompton Cemetery in London, evoking art historical references such as Gyula Benczúr's 'Narcissus' (1880) and Michelangelo's 'The Creation of Adam' (1508–1512), and a close-up of musician Nina Simone embracing a young man, reflecting themes of tenderness and hardship. The exhibition also includes images of Kate Moss, Allen Ginsberg, Christopher Isherwood, Elizabeth Taylor, Nelson Mandela, Jeff Buckley, and River Phoenix, among others. Weber, known for his fashion photography for Calvin Klein, GQ, and Vogue, faced accusations of inappropriate behavior in 2017–18, which were dismissed or settled, impacting his career.
