Bruce Nauman's New Videos and Drawings Debut at Konrad Fischer Pop-Up in TriBeCa

At the Konrad Fischer pop-up gallery in TriBeCa, Bruce Nauman, who is 84 years old, is presenting his work with 42 videos and 16 'blind drawings' for the first time. In the high-definition 3-D video, we see Nauman drawing with both hands while blindfolded and using a cane for support. The slowed-down sounds emulate the creaking of a ship, highlighting the scratching noises. His drawings include both self-portraits and still lifes. His assistant, Ellen Babcock, films him with iPhones and sometimes they even have thumb wrestling matches. Nauman, originally from Indiana, became known in San Francisco before moving to New Mexico in 1979 and later settling near Santa Fe in 1989. He was honored with the Golden Lion in 2009 for his pavilion at the Venice Biennale. During the creation of 15 videos, he drew descriptions from a hat, though he jokingly confessed to swapping two of them.
