Broadway Grosses Jump 27 Percent as Celebrity-Led Shows Sell Out

Last week, Broadway's box office revenue surged by 27 percent, fueled by a lineup of star-studded shows that attracted full audiences. Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Allison Janney, Ed Harris, and Joe Keery headlined Other Desert Cities, which grossed $2.1 million over eight performances, achieving full capacity with an average ticket price of $277—just behind Hamilton's $287. A Few Good Men, featuring Bradley Whitford, Tom Blyth, and Krysta Rodriguez, began previews on Oct. 8 at Lincoln Center's Vivian Beaumont Theater, selling out its initial three shows and earning $555,367 at an average ticket price of $168, with its official opening set for Oct. 29. Billy Crystal's one-man show 860 garnered $1.2 million over seven previews at the Imperial Theatre, also at full capacity, averaging $156 per ticket. Hamilton topped the charts with $3 million, thanks in part to Chris Jackson's return, followed by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at $2.22 million, The Lion King at $2.21 million, and both Other Desert Cities and MJ at $1.9 million each. Bowen Yang's Oh, Mary! broke a box office record at the Lyceum Theatre, earning $1.59 million across eight performances with an average ticket price of $222. Overall attendance across the industry increased by 10 percent.
