exhibition · 2026-08-14

"Korea: 2000 Years of Creativity" is currently on display at the British Museum in London, showcasing more than 23,000 items donated by the late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-Hee (1942–2020) to the National Museum of Korea. This marks the museum's first exhibition focused on Korean art since 1984, covering a timeline from 5000 BC to the early 20th century. It features National Treasures on loan and delves into the cultural identity of Korean artists. Notable pieces include Goryeo celadon, Joseon white porcelain, a gourd-shaped ewer (c. 1200–1300), a Bodhisattva triad, the Flower Garland Sutra, Jeong Seon's "Clearing After Rain on Mount Inwang," and works by Yi Inmun, Nam June Paik (1932–2006), and Do Ho Suh (b. 1962). The exhibition is open from 1 October to 31 January 2027, and a catalogue is available (ISBN 9780714137032).
